What is a hydraulic press?

Nov 22, 2024

Hydraulic press is a kind of machine that utilizes hydraulic oil as the working medium, converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into the pressure energy of the liquid through the hydraulic pump, and then converts the pressure energy of the liquid into the mechanical energy through the hydraulic cylinder, to realize all kinds of pressure processing processes. Simply put, it is a machine that generates huge pressure through the hydraulic system to press, bend, stretch, and perform other operations on the workpiece.

Structure composition:
The hydraulic press consists of two main parts: the main machine and the control mechanism. The main part of the hydraulic press includes the body, main cylinder, ejector cylinder, and liquid filling device. The power mechanism consists of an oil tank, a high-pressure pump, a low-pressure control system, an electric motor, and various pressure valves and directional valves. Under the control of the electrical device, the power mechanism realizes the conversion, regulation, and delivery of energy through pumps and cylinders and various hydraulic valves to complete the cycle of various process actions.

Product Classification

Classified by structure: four-column hydraulic press (three-beam four-column, five-beam four-column), double-column hydraulic press, single-column hydraulic press (C-shape structure), frame-type hydraulic press, and so on.
Classification by application: metal forming hydraulic press, bending hydraulic press, stretching hydraulic press, punching hydraulic press, powder (metal, non-metal) molding hydraulic press, pressing hydraulic press, extrusion hydraulic press, extrusion molding machine, and so on.

Application Fields
Machinery manufacturing industry: used for forging, stamping, and other processes of metal materials. For example, in the manufacture of automobile parts, the forging process of crankshafts, connecting rods, and other parts of automobile engines will use hydraulic presses, and the metal blanks will be processed into the required shapes through the huge pressure of hydraulic presses.
The Plastic products industry plays an important role in the molding process of plastic products. For example, in plastic sheet pressing, a hydraulic press can press plastic particles into a mold pressure, so that it is formed into a flat sheet.

Powder metallurgy industry: metal powder is pressed to make it into a part blank with a certain shape and strength. For example, some small metal gears, bearings, and other parts can be made by powder metallurgy, first using hydraulic presses to press metal powder into shape, and then sintering and other subsequent processes.
