How Does Rubber Injection Molding Machine Work?

Nov 27, 2024

A rubber injection molding machine is a device used to form various rubber products, such as seals, gaskets, and O-rings. Here's how it works:

1. Material preparation: Raw materials, such as solid rubber or pre-formed rubber parts, are prepared and processed for further usage.

2. Plasticizing and injection: The rubber materials are heated and transformed into a soft, molten state through the plasticizing unit. This facilitates the injection process of rubber materials into the mold cavity through an injector. Injection parameters such as pressure, speed, and time are closely monitored to ensure that the rubber material fully fills the mold cavity and to avoid defects like air bubbles or incomplete injection.

3. Mold closing and vulcanization: Once the rubber material is injected into the mold, the mold closes and high pressure is applied to form the required shape. This initiates the vulcanization reaction, and the temperature, time, and pressure condition of the vulcanization process play a crucial role in the final product's performance.

4. Mold opening and product removal: After a certain time of vulcanization, the mold is opened, and the finished rubber products are removed.

5. Post-processing: Some rubber products may undergo further processing, such as trimming, polishing, or inspection.

6. Cooling and testing: After product removal, some products require cooling to stabilize their shape and properties. Finally, the product undergoes rigorous testing such as dimensional testing, physical property tests, and quality inspection before entering the market.

With the continuous progress of science and technology, the performance of rubber injection molding machine is also improving, providing a strong impetus for the development of rubber products industry.
