Characteristics of Composite Fiber

Apr 01, 2025

Friction plates made of a single fiber are not very satisfactory in terms of economy and cost performance. After many tests and verification, will be a variety of fiber combination, no matter in the economic aspect or performance are greatly improved, become the mainstream of friction plate.

Composite mineral fiber that is based on this consideration, in the production process will be different natural mineral fibers and man-made mineral fiber combination together. With this composite fiber as the main reinforcing component of the friction sheet in the mechanical strength, friction performance, heat resistance, process manufacturability and product cost price can meet the non-asbestos friction sheet of the actual production and use of the requirements.

Composite mineral fiber is a kind of fiber product for friction material which contains many kinds of mineral fibers, and according to different applications, a small amount of organic fiber and other friction-enhancing components can be added. The fiber has the following characteristics:

(1) Appearance of gray-yellow or off-white fiber, with a soft feeling.

(2) The heat resistance is higher than asbestos.

(3) Its friction and wear performance composite friction plate use performance requirements.

(4) Its reinforcing effect can meet the mechanical strength requirements of disc brake pads and bonded drum brake pads. If a small amount of other fibers are added for reinforcement, it can meet the mechanical strength requirements of riveted drum brake pads for light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

(5) The price is suitable and lower than most of the non-asbestos type fibers.

Therefore, the composite mineral fiber has more reasonable technical and economic comprehensive performance, and can be used as the main fiber in the reinforcing component of the friction material.
